Tunefruit is Going Bananas: Go Entrepreneur Go Interview

Go Entrepreneur Go

The always fabulous, always cool AJ Joiner of Go Entrepreneur Go spent a little time interviewing Mango (who may or may not be writing this blog in the third person…you will need to ask him yourself) last month. Thankfully, AJ was able to decipher our ramblings and piece together one heckuva an interview.

Folks, we tackle the hard subjects in this interview. Srsly (I have cousin who writes like this on Facebook, so it’s totes cool). Want to know more about how Tunefruit works? Listen now. Want to hear our opinion on the Patriots this season? You. Are. Out. Of. Luck.

Tunefruit is Going Bananas: What does Crossfit have to do with finding great music for video?

Intern blog post…watch out!:
Huckleberry hails from Connecticut. After a short stint of walking the streets of NYC at 4 a.m. (with a tuba), he finally had enough dough for a bus ticket to Atlanta where he graciously accepted the job of “overworked, underpaid intern.” After all, what’s a berry gonna do with money?

Hey guys, before we get started I have something I need to get off my chest… My name is Huckleberry, and I’m a Crossfitter. Yes, I am a member of that weird cultish gym that has strange acronyms for things that don’t need acronyms. We alienate people by telling literally everyone we see that we are more hardcore than they are. You may have seen someone wearing a T-shirt saying “My warm-up is your workout.” Or my personal favorite:

(Crossfit Salem. We will kill you)

This morning (read: 5 AM) I was officiating a team’s workout in preparation for the Crossfit Games Open. The whole point of it was to do as many reps as possible in a certain amount of time. This guy I’m watching starts out wicked (I’m from the northeast, deal with it) fast and then falls quickly to a snails pace and it’s killing me. He is much stronger and faster than I am, but I could keep up with him. I’m screaming at him to fix his form and to think.

Suddenly…his pace doubles.

He was working twice as hard, using twice the energy he needed to. You can’t solve your problems by brute force! You still have to do things right!

At Tunefruit, we pride ourselves in doing things right (and efficiently). We care about you guys and don’t want you to waste your time searching for killer tracks. That’s why we curate our catalog and why we created our Deep Tagging™ system.  You search in Google and get 10 million hits but only look at the first two pages of results. We give you the equivalent of the first three pages – just in case.

And, while Google doesn’t curate results, we do. Every track that is considered for inclusion into Tunefruit’s catalog goes through a process of two human ears listening, tagging, describing, genre-picking, and sometimes being deleted. So, when you jump on our site, with it’s track mouse-over ability, and do a search for Batman, all you find is awesome, totally relevant, not-at-all-sucky stock music.

CrossFit and Tunefruit, more similar than you would think. Right?

Tunefruit is Going Bananas: One of Ten Startups to Watch!

Our Very Own (I capitalized for MASSIVE effect) weekly rag, Creative Loafing featured Tunefruit as one of 10 Startups to Watch in the Atlanta scene. You could replace Atlanta with Universe and you’d be more right. Sort of. Ok…maybe we’re becoming big in the Southeast. Jeesh, I don’t know, it’s so hard to figure these things out. Anyway…this article is cool, and details many other awesome new companies, too. But we are the only music licensing behemoth on there!

Many thanks to the totally awesome and swell folks over at Strongbox West (@StrongboxWest ) for connecting us up with CL!

Tunefruit is Going Bananas: Getting Noticed With An Explainer Video

Eric GuerinThe following post was written by our new friend Eric. Eric Guerin is the founder of Adelie Studios. He chooses to use his creative powers for good and not evil by helping businesses to better market themselves using animated marketing explainer videos. He can easily be bribed with coffee.

Intro Video. Brand Video. Explainer Video. You may have heard one or more of these terms recently, but what exactly is it? The most popular term right now is explainer video and the gist is these videos ‘explain’ what you do quickly and easily so anyone can understand it. It’s a short and concise version of exactly what your company does.

So why are they so popular right now? The biggest reason is people like to be entertained. Let’s face it, if you have the choice between reading and scrolling down a web page of text or sitting back and watching a one minute video. You’re watching the video. That’s because people prefer to learn through audio/visual methods. If the viewer watches a video with both audio and visuals they are far more likely to remember that than just a text description. In fact, in a recent survey by Forbes of C-level business executives indicated that 59% said they would rather watch an online video than read text covering the same information on a website.

Explainer videos are also great at increasing conversions when scripted correctly. If you can help the consumer understand what you do faster through a quick video, you can get them to take the next step that much quicker. It’s that snackable video content the people are looking for to help them make more informed decisions.

One of the most famous explainer videos you are probably familiar with is the one created for Dropbox  which is pretty much the only visual you see on their home page. Haven’t seen it? Check it out here, I’ll wait for you:

This simple video on a targeted landing page helped launch Dropbox from a very cool little file sharing startup to the company they are today with over 100 million. Not bad, right?

“Yeah but that’s Dropbox, they’re huge. It wouldn’t work for me.” Is what you’re saying now, right? I say poppycock. Here’s an example of one I’ve worked on is the explainer video we created for a startup called MyVR:

By placing the video on their homepage, over 87% of site visitors watched the video and they had a 34% increase in trial signups for their service after the video was implemented on their home page. So it can work for anyone from the scrappy startup on up to companies like Dropbox that are valued at over 4 billion dollars.

You only get one chance to make a first impression; and your explainer video is that first impression. Explainer videos are a great way to connect with potential customers and clearly convey what it is you do. So even if someone watches it at 3am while groggily half asleep, what you do and the problem your product or service solves is presented perfectly as if it was properly caffeinated during normal business hours.

Have you produced your own explainer video? If you do, what kind of success are you having with it?

Tunefruit is Going Bananas: Wistia knows we have a sweet tooth…

Look what came in the mail!
Did Wistia buy you cookies today? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Just kidding. If you can find us, we will give you a small bite.

We were so hopped up on sugar after eating all the cookies that we made this .gif for Wistia. And really, since it’s online, we guess it’s also for the world. Ok? See world, it’s for you, too! Yum!

This was a very nice “Thank You” from Wistia for allowing us to guest blog a few months back. But seriously, the pleasure was all ours. Really. Have you ever looked at their freaking blog? It’s the best blog this Mango has ever seen. They give tips and tricks on proper lighting, filming, camera techniques, etc.

Look…LOOK. Here: Wistia’s Blog
BTW…here’s a picture of the Tunefruit co-founders right after they finished the cookies:

Tunefruit is Going Bananas: Intern Takeover #1

redneck yacht

What’s good Tunefruitters (there is still an in-office argument about this word)?

Huck here, stealing the reigns from Mango for one very hot second. How did I manage such a coup? You guys should know by now that I’m the intern in ‘business school’. I rocked out my last final exam of the semester last night (solid C-). So without telling anyone, I decided to take a vacation AND cause some trouble!

Late last night I grabbed the launch codes and shipped off on a booze cruise to Jamaica. To hell with all of Mango’s ‘plans’ and ‘organization’, I just wanna rep tunes that I’m feeling right now.

So right now I’m floating away to a vacation in the sun listening to this jam. (get it?)

And with such a sea-worthy vessel, I’ll be in Jamaica in no time, partying on the beach, listening to some steel drums, and swimming in the warm seawater.

Jamaica is just one of the many parts of the world that Tunefruit has music for. Check out our World Music Genre for awesome tunes from all over the globe. I’ve been meaning to explore the Serengeti…

Tunefruit is Going Bananas: Guest Post on Wistia

Click the pic below, homie, and avail your bad self of all the knowledge that Tunefruit can possibly offer you…I know…all the knowledge we possess about finding the right music for your project is summed up in one blog. Don’t we get points for being concise? Who wants to read a friggin’ book about this stuff? We don’t. You don’t. My mom doesn’t. Wistia, again with their infinite niceness and super-cool and informative blog, deemed us cool enough to guest post, so we took the opportunity super-seriously. Like, put some pants on, open the blinds, drink a glass of orange juice serious.

Since were here…you should go check out Wistia. Notice how Wistia is a hyperlink? Good. Click it. Right now. Don’t you want to see what they offer? Because it’s Video Analytics. Dang…I just spoiled it. Go over there anyway.

Tunefruit is Going Bananas: Business Radio X Interview

Business RadioX
Our friends over at Business RadioX had us join them for an interview on their show, High Velocity, today, to talk about what we’ve been up to since we last spoke with them. We’d like to think we were witty, good-natured, and thoughtful in our answers to their questions, but we might (ARE) be biased. We chatted about music licensing, customers, partnerships, the shebang. Enjoy.

Check it out, right here: Tunefruit Interview with Business RadioX
